Light Universe vs Carbon World

[vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content_no_spaces”][vc_column][rev_slider_vc alias=”lu-cu-overexpose”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hawks Effect takes place not in a single universe, but in two of them. This may appear confusing on the first sight. Why 2 universes? Isn’t one enough? Don’t we have enough things to discover and to explain in our own huge world, which is more than 13 Billions years old and has a size of approximately 400 Billion Lightyears in diameter?

Well, infact it’s not only those two universes, we’re talking about three of them – and maybe one more. But the Dark Universe doesn’t matter for the Hawkverse for now. For now….

So we have the Light Universe (LU) and the Carbon Universe (CU) because it’s plausible. It’s a concept of consistency.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Fermionic vs. Bosonic” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center”][vc_column_text]Our Carbon Universe represents the entire fermionic universe – all known solid matter. The Simulacron/Light Universe is a bosonic Universe, consisting of known force-transmitting particles (and some more unknown) like photons, gluons, Z- and W-Bosons.

In all three universes the existing physical laws are sufficient to create complex structures and lives, but these “universes” are not independent: one has the other as a foundation – like ours is kept stable by forcetransmitting particles (bosons), the LU needs the carbon world as a framework or matrix to consist.

The dark matter in turn holds everything together and leads to the fact that existing energies (fermionic and bosonic) are almost “bundled” and form clusters.
Thus, these worlds are almost pushed together and interdependent, they also interact with one another. Events in one can have effects on the other, but are interpreted there as “blur” or “coincidence”.

A change between these universes is only possible because of these dependencies and interactions, but only for persons who can meet resonances in several universes and remain coherent there at all.

Transmitting from one universe to another is always a one-way street, you can not get anything from another universe into your own, but simply transport something from your own to another. To get back, you need the help of the respective universe. However, quite unknown “coincidences” and resonances can lead to the impression that it is a two-way connection: if a teleporter in a universe is coupled with another in a different universe, one can control the other.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”789″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]by Rael Wissdorf & Rudi Golubich 2017[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_cta h2=”See both universes in action” h4=”Explore two worlds by yourself” txt_align=”center” shape=”square” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Study the Episodes” btn_shape=”square” btn_align=”center” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fhawkseffect.trivocum-verlag.de%2Fhome%2Fepisodes%2F|||”]All theory is grey until you experience it by yourself. Broadspace

[vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content_no_spaces” full_height=”yes”][vc_column][rev_slider_vc alias=”broadspace-zoom-slider”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row id=”Introduction”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Broadspace” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Broadspace or “The Continuum” is the space between the simulacra/habitats. The size and extent of Broadspace is unknown. Since we cannot talk about “scope” regarding broadspace, it seems plausible that Broadspace is much smaller than the “Hubble” Space of the Carbon World Universe. But, on the other hand, since Broadspace is a construct, with theoretically no “end” or restriction, it could be a million times larger than the Carbon World universe. No one knows where or how far away the Guardian of the Source(GotS) may have placed hidden and secret areas of Broadspace. One thing should be clear: the known reaches of Broadspace are much faster to travel through than the Carbon World’s solar system. A Broadspace Vessel doesn’t need years or hundreds of years to reach a certain goal. For example, the journey from Nedara to “the Interface” Simulacron “Area 23” would take less than a day. The farthest known Simulacron, called “Aurus” within the Aurora Sector, will take about a month to travel to. So, the distances are quite comparable to overseas journeys in the old days of sailing ships of the Carbon World.

But there are faraway places – Exile Simulacra – which would take a whole lifetime to reach. This is by design. And there may be thousands of other smaller or larger Simulacra of different shapes and composition. Only the GotS knows for sure.

Note: The sight of Broadspace itself has proven to be severely detrimental to an ordinary human mind. Fortunately a rare but hearty few have been discovered who have the ability to navigate the rigors of Broadspace travel without the damaging consequences. (See The Pilots.)

The Light Universe can be viewed as a living organism, in which the Simulacra themselves appear as nerve centers and nodes. Embedded in Broadspace, lights of various hues and forms appear. As mentioned previously, there are Simulacra of different sizes and shapes – the most common is the spherical shape. The diameter of the Nedara Simulacron is measured at about 20,000 miles, and a habitable area of 26 million square kilometers (about the size of the Carbon World’s USSR plus Europe). A1 Simulacra can have a diameter of up to 200,000 miles (eg. Atalanta, the water reservoir of the known universe). The exact diameter can only be estimated, as Simulacra expand and contract, depending on weather conditions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row id=”Simulacrons”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Construction of a simulacron” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]G3 Simulacra are spherical and divided into 2 hemispheres. In the upper hemisphere are all-weather scripts, in the lower one, (the so-called “underground,”) there are up to 3 other habitable levels, including one that houses the machines required to operate the simulacron. In the underground levels, there are usually large caverns with their own weather systems, and uninhabitable areas, which have been barely explored. Many have their own forms of life.

In the center lies a protected core, which contains a field generator. This generator produces a stable Core Conversion Energy (CCE) field that surrounds the entire outer hemisphere which protects the inhabitants from the sight of Broadspace. This core is similar in function to the rotating iron core of a planet that generates a magnetic field. Due to fluctuations in the field strength in the SimCore, shining phenomena in the sky, which resemble the earthly Aurora Borealis, occur. The SimCore consumes more than half of the total CCE of a simulacron.

On the lowest levels, there are exits to the “Outer Rim”, border areas, that emigrate from the Simulacron. Life takes place mainly on the surface, exactly in the middle of a simulacron, which would be comparable to the static scene within a snow globe.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Is there life in Broadspace?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]While this may be possible, it would be located at the Outer Rim and some areas beyond. Here, a strange cobweb of strings, known as the “Network” exists, which can be explored in protective suits for a few miles, but beyond it lies the pure Broadspace, the crossing of which is impossible without special ships.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row id=”Features”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Features of Broadspace” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Spatial properties
In contrast to the “open space” of the Carbon World, there are no binding forces in Broadspace. Gravity as we understand it is therefore not a physical law in the Light Universe and is not considered a property of bodies. Therefore, simulacra do not move toward or away from each other. Scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers have always had a hard time describing and exploring the characteristics of the world around them as have their counterparts in the Carbon World. Where a Galileo could calculate and interpret the movement of heavenly bodies in the Carbon World in order to draw conclusions about the properties of the planet Earth (eg, that it revolves around a sun) and other scientists like Albert Einstein after him could postulate the curvature of space and time by the influence of the gravitational force, early explorers of the Light Universe were in a more complicated situation.

The observable phenomena of simulacra have always left little scope for the derivation of regularities, especially since these could change under the influence of their Scripts at any time (see “Structure and Functioning of a Simulacron”). The properties of Broadspace were unequivocally difficult to investigate since Broadspace is simply not observable from the vital surface of a Simulacron. No telescope is able to penetrate the protective layers of the upper hemisphere. It took the discovery of the ports in the underground before the first Mentals learned about the existence of Broadspace.

Nonagrams and Cataracts
Seen from the viewpoint of an observer within a simulacron, there seems to be an empty space through light points, so the view is very similar to the image that a Carbonite (a human from the Carbon Universe) knows when observing the “starry sky”. But in contrast to the starry sky of the Carbon World, the light spots in Broadspace track no predictable orbits, because they oscillate more or less arbitrarily back and forth or occasionally expand slightly. These light points are called cataracts – concentration points of particularly high energy and density, which lie at the nodes of nonagonal structures, the so-called “chambers.”

Meanwhile, we know, that a myriad of strings cover the “empty” space, which we call “axons”. They are covered by a gleaming substance called “Luxonium” which is a very raw form of pure or Proto CCE. Big companies, mainly from the Sempai Cluster, are planning harvester ships to obtain huge portions of this substance. But the bigger a Broadspace Vessel is, the more it consumes of this Luxonium with their converters, so it’s still a matter of math, whether such an endeavor will make any profit.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Broadspace Vessels and their Pilots” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center”][vc_column_text]As mankind did in the Carbon World, the inhabitants of Nedara dreamed of traveling Broadspace.  And just like in the Carbon World, it took ages to put the first boots on foreign ground. Presently Nedara boasts Broadspace Vessels; ships capable of crossing the dangerous chambers of Broadspace, following the axons from cataract to cataract, trying to provide a proper cartography with which to make this weird space a bit more familiar.

Note: We will discuss Nedara Ship Classes in a future edition of the Hawkverse.

Broadspace Vessels are quite similar to Carbon World Spacecraft. The fast short-distance gliders resemble NASA’s space shuttle, while the larger ones look a lot like modern submarines. Vessels range in size from 3-Men Cruisers to the 100 troop battleships especially preferred by Draconis, which are capable of firing CCE torpedos against hostile ships. Every vessel contains a special core housing a Luxonium Converter, a mechanism that converts raw Luxonium into usable pure CCE. Every Broadspace Vessel resonates with a very special sound specific to each ship that the Pilots refer to as “the ships melody.” Every Pilot who has ever traveled within a Broadspace Vessel can identify a ship by its resonance. This is part of their romantic attitude towards Broadspace piloting.

The Pilots
Pilots are very special in the Light Universe and Nedara. Just as Initiators do, they have a very special skill set, which enables them to comfortably navigate through Broadspace without incident. These skills are extremely rare. Because of this, Broadspace Pilots are greatly coveted by every Cluster fleet. Since they are a privileged few, they are respected and flattered by their Commands and allowed a certain leeway to bend the rules regarding military discipline. This normally appears in their adopted hairstyles, speech patterns, and manner of dress, oftentimes similar to those belonging to Nedara’s counterculture. While intelligent, they are generally “easy going” in nature, with a devil-may-care attitude, and often sport a roguish appearance.

Many myths and legends are attributed to Broadspace Pilots, including the origin of the “tears” they have under their eyes: tiny holes with which they are able to attach the filaments that connect them to the ships navigation system. One of these legends states that at a time deemed fit by the will of the GotS, a child would be born with this augmentation naturally occurring. Since the advent of Broadspace travel, this has happened only five times, the first being a pilot by the name of Byron Hicks of Aeternus forty five years ago. He and the others not only showed an affinity for Broadspace piloting but seemed to thrive on it. Naturally, a boy or girl born with these “Tears of the Pilot” certainly doesn’t need to waste time on life planning.

With these special birth occurrences being so rare, and in the rush to acquire as many Broadspace Pilots as possible, each Cluster (with the exception of the Doromanbay and the Delphi Society) sponsored an initiative to find candidates to engage in trial simulations to test their suitability for Broadspace Piloting. It was a dangerous and risky undertaking, since for most humans, a single view of Broadspace, whether shielded or unshielded, confounds the electrical signals to the brain. Broadspace exposure induces nausea, severe sweating, extreme anxiety, palpitations of the heart, and in some cases, nerve paralysis. Prolonged viewing induces dementia, hallucinations, madness, and death.

Over the decades, many brave (or foolhardy) men and women who considered themselves experts in flitter or aircraft piloting flocked to testing centers, hoping to qualify to be among the chosen few. While thousands of candidates have made the attempt, less than 2% have demonstrated the skills necessary to advance into the Pilot ranks. Most of those who “washed out” had to endure months of physical and mental rehabilitation after the experience.  Some have actually died in the Pilot’s Chair, succumbing to convulsions or cardiac arrest, while others emerged in a permanently comatose state, requiring hospice care until the day of their death.

The few candidates who do advance are equipped with the necessary augmentation of the Pilot’s Tears to allow them to connect to a Broadspace ship’s port array. Currently, successful Pilot candidates from the Aeternus Cluster are granted a Script from Galathea, the Revered Mother of the T’haire Generis which painlessly fuses inputs into their upper cheekbones below the eye sockets. Due to their distrust of the Revered Mother, the Draconians take a more direct approach by subjecting their candidates to the rigors of Lacrimal bone surgery. Because of their more secretive nature, it is currently unclear as to which path the Sempai Cluster’s Pilots take.

So what exactly is the special ability of a Pilot?   To put it simply, a Pilot is a person who can gaze upon Broadspace without having their mind or body affected by it. It requires a fierce mental determination coupled with adaptability and an almost Zen-like demeanor. This go-with-the-flow attitude is common among Pilots, who accept their role with a certain humility, making them the most affable people in their respective fleets.

Upon closer inspection, even a Pilot cannot look directly into the raw form of Broadspace as it appears to the naked eye.  They need to perform a special process called the “Knock Down Procedure” on their viewscreen which wipes out all the colors of broadspace, reducing them down to a monochrome view. So for most Pilots, Broadspace appears blue, while some see it in crimson or violet, and others prefer a simple grayscale. After this procedure, which is done all alone in the small cockpit of the ship, strictly separated from the rest of the crew, a Pilot can see the axons and safely follow them from point to point to both nearby and far-reaching simulacra.

Glossary

This Glossary explains terms and principles of the Light Universe as well as elements which appear during the story of Hawks Effect. To prevent spoilers, the authors provide the glossary divided into sections according the episodes.

Aeternus  –  One of five Clusters (nations) within the Light Universe, settled in the southwest portion of Nedara.   Their ideology values Discipline and Honor as well as freedom for all.  At the beginning of the story, Aeternus is in cold war against Draconis.

For detailed information see tome entitled History of Aeternus.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Carbon World – The world called Earth and its universe. This plane of existence is comprised of life based on carbon. This is also called the Carbon Universe.  Most Nedarans consider the existence of “Carbon Worlders” or Carbonites as a myth; a story related to children as fairytales.  Nedarans in the upper echelon know otherwise.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]CCE – Core Conversion Energy. This is the only means of power known in the Simulacron.  CCE is energy bound to the waves of light flowing through the Simulacra. Long ago, Sempai scientists have found a way to trap that light and siphon off pure CCE. This energy is funneled into charging stations throughout the world. In the present day, all technology operates through CCE.  In its raw or most concentrated form, it is referred to as Proto CCE.  The easiest way of transporting unstable CCE is in disk form.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Clusters  –  Quasi-Political factions within the continent of Nedara based on ideology, and partially framed by geographic location and divisions of specialties. Carbon Worlders would see Clusters as nations.  There are currently five Clusters in Nedara; Aeternus, Draconis, Doromanbay, Sempai and the T’Haire Generis.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Doromanbay – One of five Clusters (nations) within the Light Universe settled in the central portion of Nedara. Their ideology values a “live and let live” mindset and a hedonistic lifestyle. Their biggest strong suit lies in Politics and Negotiation.  As stewards of the largest of freshwater reservoirs in Nedara, they enjoy the most fertile region in the entire continent.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Draconis – One of five Clusters (nations) within the Light Universe settled in the northwest portion of Nedara. Their ideology values Strong Rule, an obedient populous, and Order by any means necessary. Due to a variety of factors, this region has the least amount of water reserves.  For centuries, out of necessity, they have engaged in frequent conflicts with their neighbors.  A water sharing treaty currently exists between Draconis and the Doromanbay, brokered by the T’Haire Generis. Draconis is currently in a cold war against Aeternus.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Grand Script – The record of all possible outcomes and futures for all life within the Light Universe, which is able to be controlled or manipulated as needed by the Guardian of the Source. It can also be read and interpreted (but not altered) by the Revered Mother of the T’Haire Generis.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Guardian of the Source (GotS) – Considered a God by the inhabitance of Nedara, this being is acknowledged as the creator of Nedara and steward of the Wellspring, the source of all Code Conversion Energy. He is also charged with maintaining balance and order within the entire Light Universe.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Initiators – A special class of Core Conversion Energy manipulators who are sensitive to and adept at manipulating the flow of CCE through the use of special optics.  Their eye wear allows them to focus the energy, and by the use of special codes typed into a projected “virtual keyboard” they are able to manipulate CCE to create or destroy matter on a limited basis by Hacking. Some Initiators specialize in constructing protective barriers for defense, while others still are able to enhance or degrade human abilities.  The rarest of these are even able to perform virtual surgery on a patient using highly focused CCE to knit bone, regenerate tissue, and remove foreign bodies (including poison) from a patient’s body.   Specialized Initiators are highly coveted and prized by both the Aeternus and Draconis Clusters, often serving in a military capacity; most notably in “Black Ops” operations.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Nedara – A Simulacron within the Light Universe with the highest concentration of intelligent life. Also refers to the Realm or region, where our story takes place. Specifically, it refers to the central landmass which is surrounded by a toxic ocean.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Recall – The act of using an energy transfer via Core Conversion Energy to quickly transport Nedaran soldiers or materials from one location to another without degradation of the host. Some would refer to it as “teleportation” or “beaming.”  This is accomplished on the field through the use of either a portable Recall generator or a ground based Recall station.  While there was once many permanent Recall stations that dotted the entirety of Nedara, due to the many wars during the past history of this world, most are now destroyed.  There are also rumors of possible Recall stations somewhere within Broadspace, but for most Nedarans, they are only a myth.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Script – A program initiated by use of Core Conversion Energy to cause or produce a desired (or undesired) effect. They are typically used for physical enhancements to assist with a person’s life path (i.e. intelligence, strength), increase fertility, or for any other desired improvement. Most Scripts are assigned to citizens of Nedara on a case by case basis by the Revered Mother of the T’Haire Generis.  “Black Scripts” from dubious sources also exist. These tend to be unreliable or unstable.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sempai – One of five Clusters (nations) within the Light Universe settled in the eastern portion of Nedara. Their ideology values Technological Advancement and Scientific Know-how. They are regarded by the other Clusters as a strategic ally.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Shrouded Isle – Legendary home of the Guardian of the Source, and the Wellspring. It is protected from human intrusion by an energy barrier.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Simulacron/Light Universe  –  A world beyond what you call Earth.  A Simulacron is not a distant planet, but a realm that exists on a separate plane of existence.  All life in the Light Universe is comprised of light in various forms.  Though it has been referred to as the Light World or Light Universe, intelligent beings, which live within those environments simply refer to their habitat as “the world” as we do.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text](The) Source – That which controls and regulates all of creation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]T’Haire Generis – One of five Clusters (nations) within the Light Universe settled in Delphi on the southeast/south-central portion of Nedara. While not an actual Cluster per se, the T’Haire Generis are considered by the others as such. Their ideology values Spiritual Enlightenment, Creativity, and the Greatest Good for all Nedarans regardless of Cluster or status.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The History of Aeternus

*This journal was penned by the Aeternus and as such, its objectivity can be questioned.*

At no other point in history had our lives been as bleak and oppressed as they were then.  I was not there; in that age of chaos, but my grandfather spoke of his grandfather and how he helped stand up against the tyranny and corruption of the Neddarim.  Neddarim.  The word still lives a bitter taste in my mouth.  They created us, the Aeternus to do their bidding.  How quickly they turned their backs on our cause after all we had done in their name.

In their hysteria of losing control of their power to the Juggs, the Neddarim created the Aeternus and the Draconis.  It was considered an honor to serve either side, as Aeternus would mobilize and suppress the dangerous rebellions, and Draconis would serve as the home guard to protect the revered Neddarim.  My grandfather’s grandfather chose the battlefield while his brother chose to serve in the Home Guard under the banner of the Draconis.  I wonder now if their decisions would have been different had they known what the future had in store.

Years passed and the rebellions continued across the world of Nedara.  Aeternus had been away from home for far too long.  It is my belief that they had grown so efficient in battle that the Neddarim now feared their own creation.  After the last of the rebellions were put down, Aeternus was ordered to be stationed at the edge of Babylon, far from the center of the city and the council of the Neddarim.  They were to be kept in reserve and not disbanded.

Perhaps it was the act of seeing so much unrest that stirred something within the commanding officers.  Perhaps it was seeing one too many dead children lying bloodied on the ground.  I don’t think anyone really knew what sparked the move, but rumors began to swirl through the army.  My ancestor heard these rumors.  I cannot imagine what he must have felt at the time.  Pain, regret, anger?  Perhaps it was sorrow or guilt.  Upon hearing that the Neddarim were not interested in the preservation of life, but cared only for their power and the riches they had acquired, the officers became upset. What was their true purpose?  Were they created solely to be a catspaw to enforce Neddarim rule?  Was slaughtering dissidents and their families their only reason for existence?   What started as a noble cause became contradictory to the core values and beliefs of the Aeternus.  Where is the honor in slaughtering the weak?  Where is discipline when negotiations are not allowed?  And what of the people in our world that remain?  Have their lives become better after Neddarim edicts and our sacrifice?

The officers left their post in the blackness of night; my great great grandfather being among them.  In disguise, they visited the other countries and villages and saw first hand the struggle of rebuilding, as well as the cruel suffering that was happening to the residents.  The people spoke openly to our men and women since they did not recognize them as soldiers, and informed them of the cruelty of the Neddarim.  The officers were astonished to learn that the people were enslaved to the Neddarim.  As such, they lived in near poverty, slogging through a meager existence while being forced to toil night and day to supply goods and resources from their province to Babylon.

The officers moved on to the next country, then the next, each time hearing the same story of misery.  Once they had visited all of Nedara, they were convinced that they had been deceived by their rulers.  The Neddarim were not the just and wise rulers they had presented themselves to be.  Aeternus decided that it was up to them to save the people from this injustice.  The leaders returned and planned their attack.

Commanded by a new General, a broad-shouldered, powerful man whose origins were unknown, Aeternus charged the stronghold of the Neddarim.  However, the Draconis were there to meet them.  A bloody battle ensued that did not cease for sixty straight days.  Night and day they fought, never resting, making it truly a bleak time for all who survived.  Finally, Draconis was driven back and Aeternus addressed the Neddarim face to face.  Even when confronted with evidence of their crimes against the citizens of Nedara, the Neddarin refused to admit their culpability for the harsh conditions of the people and refuted every claim made by Aeternus as lies.  In the moment that followed, the actions of Aeternus tipped the scales, forever changing the world as we know it.  Our mysterious General and his host slaughtered the Neddarim, forever ending their oppression.

Unfortunately, our General was consumed by his bloodlust and succumbed to madness.  I believe that the horrors of war coupled with his own inner demons finally drove him over the edge.  Whether it was a spontaneous decision or something born out of a personal grudge, no one knows, but after defeating the Neddarin, he ordered an assault on the Order of the Light; the conclave of priestesses who wield magical abilities.  Aeternus followed his orders reluctantly, for they were tired of death, and saw no honor in killing women and children.  Since we lacked the will to engage them, these women were able to repel our army with little difficulty without killing anyone in our ranks. However, their direct attacks proved useless against the General’s great strength and malevolent will.  He singlehandedly decimated their ranks leaving only three women remaining, an Elder and two young acolytes.  Using their combined power, these three women bound the General and cast him into oblivion which resulted in the death of the Elder.  The remaining Aeternus soldiers, coerced into this senseless battle by the ferocity of the General, put away their weapons and withdrew, deeply regretting the slaughter of the Order.  As a consolation, they took in and cared for the two children survivors and held them both in the highest regard.

Over time the two children became women and founded the T’haire Generis in honor of the fallen Order of the Light.  The T’haire Generis have become a beacon of peace in my age.  Their mission to work for the good of all Nedarans has indeed blossomed and borne fruit.  Unfortunately, while Aeternus has freed the world from slavery, Draconis still survives, and we remain enemies to this day.   They claim that they were unjustly attacked, but that is nonsense. We each performed to our purpose, and their failure in their duty brought them eternal shame, for which they now hold a deep-seated resentment toward our Cluster.

While there is no longer open warfare between the two of us, each Cluster has been engaged in undermining the other through skirmishes and a host of covert actions.  I don’t know if this cold war will ever end, or whether we can broker a just peace between our two sides.  I do know, however, that we have survived the worst part of our history, and Aeternus has played our part in saving the world.  Only the Guardian himself knows what the future has in store for us.

The Divine Illuminator

Millennia ago all was Void.  Through the chaotic blackness, the Guardian emerged, bringing with Him Light to the dark.  This emergence has been the topic of great debate among scholars, but the T’haire Generis has taken the belief that the Guardian and the Void existed together for an indefinable length of time.  He was alone in the chaos until he summoned the light.

The Guardian banished the Void from existence, leaving only the infinite spectrum.  It is not known how long the Guardian was alone in the light, but after a period He spoke into the light and created the worlds of various Simulacra.  He gathered different streams of light and bent and shaped them into the land, the sea, the sky and the Broadspace.  Each element needed to sustain the life He would create, He crafted a world for.  Water, fire, food and air were poured into the worlds and cast into the Broadspace.

In the center, He created his jewel; life.  Modeling after His own features, He created the core of the first living being.  This core was a die for all other cores in existence.  It gathered light and energy into infinitely small complexities which formed a body and filled it with consciousness.  Bone, blood, nerves and skin formed from the light into a person.  Into this vessel, the Guardian poured Ambition, Wisdom, Compassion and Power, now considered to be the Four True Virtues.  Still, the body was without life and the Guardian used His power to create millions of cores and placed them on the crux of all worlds.

The crux is what we now call Nedara.  The Guardian set this world as one that would sustain life.  All the other worlds would provide the crux with water, heat, food and air.  The connection of the worlds is unknown.  All that is known is that the four elements are transported through Broadspace to different locations in Babylon.  The wellspring of water is located at Delphi between the towers.  Fire and heat arise from a shaft of indeterminable depth in Limbo.  Food is gathered on the Eastern shores below the mountains in Shazire.  And air is filtered through invisible vents in the sky from high above.

The birthplace of the Guardian’s creation of the universe is called the Source.  He took up residence here and has since been referred to as the Guardian of the Source.  The Guardian is the first known being and we offer up our prayers to him, that he might see fit to grant our needs.

In those first few millennia, little is known of the Guardian and his tasks. Possibly His greatest feat was the initiation of the Grand Script.  He spent eons orchestrating and applying the Grand Script to all living cores.  Not only that, but the Script itself would modify and adhere to new cores as new life was born.  Before Scripts, the people of the land were in chaos, and the Four Virtues were dormant.  The Grand Script brought order and purpose to life.  We call this ‘destiny.’

The Script governs all, yet few see it.  The purpose of life contained in the core of each individual goes largely undiscovered.  Those who can see the Grand Script can see the future.  Only the Revered Mother and her sister are said to possess this ability, but they are unable to change it.  They are able to alter an individual’s Script if required.  However, even their power over individual Scripts is limited to the leniency of the Grand Script itself.

The Script is contained in the core of each being.  The core is what attracts the various strands of light and energy and compacts it to form our bodies and conscience.  Beings created without a core, such as the Choir of the Draconista, are loosely bound.  In fact, they have little if any internal organs or blood.  The Four Virtues are absent in them, and as such, these beings follow orders as mindless robots.  They have no purpose in life but to obey and since they have no core, they are free from the Grand Script.

But we all have cores.  We have life and purpose.  Each person is charged with the use and propagation of their Virtues in a manner pleasing to the Guardian.  Some have forsaken some of the Virtues; Compassion usually being the first to be scorned, with Wisdom following close behind.  In this, those people are neglecting their duty and deviating from their Script.

What is on the path of each Script is not known.  Your purpose in life will be revealed to you when you are ready to see it.  Each person walks a different path but all meet the same end.  Death.

Death, in recent years, has been a dynamic state of being.  The body can die before the core releases itself, thus some doctors are able to bring a person back from the dead.  Some cores hold together much longer than others.  The longest recorded period of time between death and revival has been three days, though some disperse in three seconds.  It depends on the core and the Script.  Ages of study have been poured into this mystery of the connection between the core and the Script in death, but no definitive answer has been learned.  Only the Guardian is meant to know such things.

In our deaths, when our core releases its hold on the light and energy, it is sent back to the Source.  From there the Guardian will decide if the core should be reused or if it has successfully completed walking the path of the Script set before it.  The light and energy is scattered back into Nedara and mingles with all.  It can mix into CCE streams or into Broadspace or even be gathered by another core.  This is why some feel they have past lives.  It is quite common actually but offers no benefit or hindrance.

From birth to death our lives dance through the Grand Script.  Only by embracing the Four Virtues can we hope to reach the end of our Script and gain immortality through our union with the Source.  The T’haire Generis believe that by living out a life to the end and adhering to the Virtues, a being’s core will be transformed into consciousness and be allowed into paradise.  That is our goal, our purpose in life.

It is a bit problematic to write about Nedara, without venturing into the area of Spoilers.  With this in mind, we will condense the information into the basic facts about this special world, and try not to touch the story. For now…

Also it should be mentioned, that this article represents the state of Nedara at the moment, when our story begins. Due to the huge impact Laurina Hawks had on this world, frontiers and political structures changed dramatically. This will be not reflected here.

The name Nedara is based upon the name of the ancient Cluster: the Neddarim. The word has several meanings which include the name of the most extensive Simulacron within the Light Universe, as well as the actual landmass itself, derived from the ancient Neddarim term “Terraris Nedaris” meaning (Our) populated country. In prehistoric times, the ancient forbearers, the Rahvâjasi, referred to the central area of the landmass as ‘Senjatha’.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Some Facts about Nedara” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]

  • The Nedara Simulacron is located in the zero sector of explored Broadspace and thus in the center of the mapped area. To what extent this corresponds to the actual true center of Broadspace, can not be answered at present since the full extent of the vastness of this space is unknown. According to the current state of research, Nedarans surmised that intelligent life originated in the Nedara Simulacron, and subsequently the first measurements of Broadspace proceeded from there. For this reason, the allocation of the zero sector is purely mathematical and hypothetical.
The landmass of Nedara includes the main continent, the islands of Sub Lupina, Shrouded Isle and Lost Liberty, as well as the Ricasian Island group in the SS (west) of Okeanos.

It consists of a central land mass in the middle of a highly toxic ocean filled with Proto Core Conversion Energy (PCCE). Modern oceanographic research, using CCE-resistant probes, found that the land mass had once been a perfect hexagon with an edge length of exactly 3,500 square miles. This resulted in a total area of 31.826433.59 square miles. Over the millennia, erosion at the edges reduced this area to almost 26 million square miles.
The largest diagonal distance is 5.800 miles, while its circumference measures about 18.000 miles.
In the Carbon World this corresponds roughly to the size of the former USSR plus Europe.

Regions (geographical)
Nedara is subdivided into different regions with strongly contrasting landscape types. In the north (MR) extends the rugged Fjord-like Moon Coast. This is where the onslaught of the Proto CCE has been most severe. The soft Calcite and Limestone of the north coast offered little resistance to the toxic waves washing onshore. Its inland area is sterile, sparsely covered with lichen and moss. As such it is nearly uninhabitable.

Apart from the Wastelands, Tharnholm, the largest desert in Nedara stretches southeast, extending farther south to the Haikantori plateau. Here the vegetation is thin, but present. South of the desert, lies the Tamnir Mountain range, the central most mountainous region in Nedara, with peaks of up to 10,000 meters. To the South of Tamnir, right in the center of Nedara in territory held by the Doromanbay, lies the Giafaron Sea which covers 420,000 square miles of the entire Tamnir high plateau. Because the water is located inland away from the tainted ocean, it is free from toxicity. It is a rare freshwater sea, and as such, it is the most important water reservoir in Nedara.
The size of the Giafaron Sea corresponds to that of the Black Sea in the Carbon World.

To the east of the Giafaron Sea is the Tamnir Woodland, a very fertile growing region. Bordering on the east are the marshes of the Sempai, and to their northeast lies a region known simply as The Tainted Lands, a polluted relic of the Sempai’s past and exploitive Industrial age. South of the Tamnir Woodland, the climate becomes hotter and more humid, resulting in subtropical conditions which produce verdant and lush vegetation. This area is referred to as the Sannozama Jungle.

To the west, the Sannozama is bordered by the Peregrin Plateau, a fertile plateau that flows into the Pergrin plain. This densely populated region is surrounded by mountains, with both mountain and plain being equally inhabited and cultivated. Further to the west is the Hansruc Highlands, a region approximately the size of England in the Carbon World, which is heavily forested. The forest area once encompassed the entire western region from the Highlands in the south to the Royal Woodlands of the north, stretching as far east as Sheol, before leading back into the middle mountains.

Bisecting the entire western region is the area known as the Wastelands. This entire sector is essentially a sunken bowl of land bordered by almost sheer cliffs which surround its entire circumference. This area extends from Nedara’s west coast, to ten miles from the border of the city of Tahudesa in the southeast, and to the northeast where it borders the foot of the White Gwyn Ridge. It is a harsh desert of unrelenting heat and infrequent but violent sandstorms. Various types of mutated fauna roam the sands, and only sparse, spindly patches of the hardiest vegetation grow here. 2000 years ago this area was once known as Onkorika, the breadbasket of Nedara. Now the entire region is blighted and desolate. Nedaran history traces the devastation back to the battle against Caine and his army during the dark period of their middle ages. This scorched, forbidding region covers an area roughly the size of France in the Carbon World.

Lakes and rivers
Freshwater is of crucial importance to the residents of Nedara, to an even greater extent than is the case in the carbon world, since the toxic ocean can hardly be used as a water reservoir. As a result, territorial sovereignty over rivers and lakes continually led to conflict among the rival Clusters, most notably with Draconis since their territory contains the least amount of freshwater reserves. In modern times, a freshwater distribution agreement brokered by the T’Haire Generis currently exists between the Doramanbay and Draconis.

The largest body of water is undoubtedly the Giafaron Sea in the center of the continent. Because of its location at an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level, it spawns several large rivers which cascade over hundreds of waterfalls in the region. To the north it is bordered by the Tamnir Mountains.

Largest lakes (and Carbon World Equivalents):
Lake Eterni, in the central Aeternus region tops the list, measuring 19,230 square miles, is as large as Lake Ontario.
Yutaka Lake, in the eastern Sempai area, is second on the list, measuring 18,200 square miles. It is about the size of Ladoga Lake in Russia.
Lake Ember,* in the Koenigswald, (also known as Babylon Lake) completes the list, measuring, 8,150 square miles, and is about the size of Lake Titicaca in Peru.

*It is interesting to note that this lake has had numerous fish kills over the last ten years due to intrusion of Proto CCE leaching into it from the ocean. The Draconis Command has warned residents against drinking or fishing from its waters over the last two years.

Mid-sized Lakes:
Major Pond near Petronas (Aeternus), is about as large as Lake Constance in Germany.
Orochi Lake in the southern Sempai region boasts the interesting feature of being the shallowest lake in Nedara, with an average water depth of 3.85 meters.
The Macellum Mooresea in Draconis is also extremely shallow and marshy with an average depth of 4.7 meters.

Rivers:
Yutaka River, which originates in the southern Pahada, flows through the northern Tamnir Woodlands, winds through Yutaka Lake into several large waterfalls at Yutaka Falls and flows from there, expanding to over 3kilometers wide as it reaches the northern Sempai region before terminating at the Tianying Delta.
Peregrinas, winds from the Giarafon Sea to the south in Lake Eterni.
Gornaya River, traces from the Giafaron Sea north into the Macellum Mooresea. Orochi River, flows from the Giafaron Sea to the southeast via Kohai.
Ojacali River, originates in the Tamnir Mountains, winding east to the Tianying Delta.
Secnac, begins at the foot of the Onkoro Cordils (northern Wastelands) and traces nothward via Sheol into the sea.
Embers Flow, runs from Ember Lake in the arc around the Southern Koenigswald, and then north, terminating at the Babylon Strait.

Major Mountain ranges (tallest peaks):
Tamnir Mountains (10,000 meters)
Pahada (8000 meters)
White Gwyn Ridge (7000 meters)
Onkoro Cordils (5000 meters)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row id=”Geology”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Geological development history” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]It is believed that Nedara is not the oldest simulacron created by the Guardian of the Source, but rather the culmination of many experiments and tests, the remains of which are still to be found in so-called Exile or abandoned simulacrons. As expressed earlier, the shape of Nedara’s original landmass formed approximately 10,000 years ago was hexagonal, and encompassed a land mass of exactly 31 million square miles. Today’s rather rugged form is due to the erosion caused by the PCCE (Proto Core Conversion Energy) contained in the seawater, which had different effects on the coastlines depending on the hardness of their rock. Thus, in the MR area (north) on the moon coast, Calcite and Limestone are more prevalent there, and being of a softer composition than the Granite and Basalt of the other coastlines, eroded at a faster rate.

Likewise, it is assumed that the islands of “Lost Liberty” and Sub Lupina were originally connected to the land mass, but over the course of millennia have eroded free.  Over time, the Guardian of the Source, once he noticed the drastic changes, took measures to protect what was left of the landmass from the caustic onslaught of ocean based Proto CCE.

Since the coasts could never be used as agricultural areas due to the high concentrations of CCE absorbed by the soil, civilization avoided these areas and shifted toward the interior of the continent, especially in the regions around today’s Paradise City, the capital of Doromanbay.  Nedaran history shows that it wasn’t until after the Quiquannos incident and the subsequent Neddarim succession wars between Draconis and Aeternus, that the coastal regions were seized and the land reclaimed for other uses; most notably, power generation.  In the early years Nedarans found a way to extract and refine CCE from the toxic waters.  Over time, due to the extremely heavy extraction of CCE from the ocean during Nedara’s industrial boom phases, the CCE content of the Okeanos has drastically decreased, forcing the inhabitants to find alternative sources of generating power. Technological advances resulted in the forerunner of what is now referred to as “CCE Stations.”[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”826″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”img_link_large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row id=”Climate”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Climate” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]In general, Nedara enjoys a moderate climate with warm summers and mild winters. The annual average temperature is 16.5 degrees Celsius, with an average annual rainfall of 910 millimeters. Nedara’s coldest month is Generis (January) with an average temperature of 5-12 degrees Celsius, while its warmest month is the Iyûl (July) with 24.3 degrees Celsius on average. The average rainfall in the middle of the year is 107 millimeters, the lowest at the beginning of the year with 35 millimeters on average. Overall the weather pattern in Nedara is quite active, especially in the spring and autumn months, with a moderate wind, as well as high humidity present throughout the year. The most pleasant climate is in the Tamnir metropolitan area centered around Lake Giafaron, as the zenith of the sun is maintained for a long time in this location, providing an enjoyable warmth. For this reason, the bulk of Nedara’s tourist trade is also found here.

Climatic factors within simulacra are fundamentally different from those in the Carbon World. The planet Earth enjoys very complex conditions compared to that of a simulacron due to the fact that its surface air and land are influenced by gravitational forces due to its orbit around its Sun. While Simulacra vary in composition, two thing are constant. The principle mass within a simulacron (whether land mass or another type) is always stationary, relative to its environment, meaning that it never revolves around another body. Secondly, most weather events that happen within a simulacron occur as a result of pre-programmed Scripts.

Wind
In the case of Nedara, air flow usually originates at one of two points, from the SS (west) or SR (east), which are also referred to as “CCE source points.” Airflow moves at a predetermined rate at certain intervals from SS to SR, with an occasional occurrence of “Contrary flow” from SR to SS for the sake of variety and balance. While weather patterns revolve around the Earth, it is interesting to note that once the winds pass the entire Nedaran continent, they dissipate once they reach a point 100 kilometers oceanside of the east or west coasts, per their Script (programming).

Rain
High concentrations of CCE in Nedara’s ocean (augmented by sunlight) heat up the water so that it condenses into steam which forms clouds, which then flow toward the continent due to their own thermal energy and Script programming. As a part of the condensation process, the water loses 97% of its CCE content, making any falling rain safe for all life on Nedara. Due to its generally warm temperatures, snowfall is almost always confined to the continent’s highest peaks and elevations.

Other factors
Due to the order and stability of the Grand Script, quakes, hail storms, severe drought, blizzards, and other dangerous environmental conditions are unknown to the inhabitants of Nedara. The only way these conditions could ever occur would be due to “outside interference” of the highest magnitude.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”The Nedaran Calendar” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]The names of the Nedaran months originated from the different languages and cultures of the past. While there are a few similarities, they largely differ from the names used in the carbon world.  Curiously, each Nadaran month is comprised of exactly 30 days, resulting in a 360 day year, which over the millenia created a time acceleration of 28 days compared to that of the Carbon World.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row id=”Demography”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Demography” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]In the socio-cultural context of Nedara one does not generally speaks of races, but of Clusters. Any racial affiliation derived from the various citizens here would simply be a school of thought catering to Carbon World sensibilities.  It should also be pointed out that membership in each Cluster is open to anyone including those who may not have descended from its particular region or “type” but is rather, based on ideology and the willingness to be useful to that ideal.  As such, a woman born in the Sannozama Jungle could be found in the halls of the Draconis High Command, while a man born in the Hansruc Highlands can be a student seeking enlightenment in Delphi.

Another classification also exists within this world: the Juggs.  Juggs are Nedaran inhabitants who for one reason or another eschew any Cluster affiliation, remaining neutral.  Their ranks are comprised of all regions, genetic types and skin colors, and their anti-Cluster stance makes them social outcasts, who are generally frowned upon by society at large.  They comprise Nedara’s counterculture population.

With that being said, as a construct of the Nedaran’s “Terms of Existence” (ToE), the Sempai would generally be considered “East Asian,”  the Doromanbay “African,” the T’Haire Generis “Middle Eastern/South Asian” and in Western Nedara, i.e., Aeternus and Draconis, “Euro-Latin” and “Euro-Slavic” types prevail.    Socio-biologists of the Sempai relate that all Nedaran skin and hair differences are the result of genetic patterns that corresponded to each region’s proximity to the Sun (as does the Carbon World).  However, most Nedarans are inclined to accept the assertion of the T’Haire Generis, which states that the Guardian of the Source simply wanted to achieve the greatest amount of human diversity possible. In view of the deeply creative nature of the Light Universe, this explanation seems to be the most logical.
